Overview

What is a prize wheel?

A prize wheel is an online random selection tool that displays prizes, names, or entries as colored segments on a spinning wheel. Press spin, and the wheel selects one segment at random when it comes to rest — instantly, fairly, and visibly, with no coin flip or dice roll needed. This digital prize wheel doubles as a random prize picker and a random winner wheel, so the same tool works whether you're running a spin-to-win giveaway or picking a raffle winner from a list of entries.

How it works

Spin in three steps

1

Add your entries

Choose Prizes or Participants mode, then type or paste one entry per line — prize names for a giveaway, or participant names and tickets for a raffle.

2

Customize the wheel

Add weights for uneven odds, set how many winners you need, choose a spin speed, and turn on sound or fullscreen for a live audience.

3

Spin to reveal the result

Press spin and watch the wheel land on a winner. The result appears instantly with its odds, and gets added to your session's winner list.

Two ways to spin

Prize mode and Participant mode

🎁

Prizes mode

Enter what someone can win — gift cards, discounts, free shipping, or a grand prize. Each spin determines the prize a single entrant receives, ideal for a spin-to-win wheel at a store, booth, or online promotion.

👤

Participants mode

Enter the names or tickets of people entered into a raffle or contest. Each spin picks one winner from the list — the tool works as a random name picker, raffle picker, and contest winner generator in one.

Running a draw

Using the wheel for raffles and giveaways

Switch to Participants mode and enter one name per line — this becomes your entry list for the draw. If you're running a raffle with numbered tickets, list each ticket holder once per ticket they hold. To pick more than one winner, set "Winners needed" to the number of prizes you're giving away, then spin that many times; each result is added automatically to the winner list. Turn on Remove winner so a name that's already won is taken out of the wheel and can't be drawn again in the same session — useful any time a raffle or giveaway has multiple, distinct prizes.

Fairness

How the odds work

By default, every entry has an equal chance of being selected. If you add a weight, such as Name | 3, that entry becomes proportionally more likely to win — useful for representing extra raffle tickets or a prize you want to award more often.

🧮

Weighted probability

For any entry, the chance of it being selected is its own weight divided by the sum of every entry's weight:

P(option) = weight ÷ Σ(all weights)

⚖️

Equal-weight slices

When no weights are set, every entry shares the total equally. With n entries, each has the same chance:

P(option) = 1 ÷ n

🎟️

Duplicate tickets

Entering the same name on multiple lines — or using a weight — represents multiple raffle tickets for that person, increasing their odds without changing anyone else's relative chance.

Multiple winners

Single, sequential, and repeat draws

For a single winner, leave "Winners needed" at 1 and spin once. For sequential draws — awarding several different prizes to several different people — raise "Winners needed" and spin once per prize, with Remove winner switched on so nobody is picked twice. If repeat winners are allowed in your giveaway (for example, the same person can win more than one small prize), simply leave Remove winner off and spin as many times as you like.

Customization

Make the wheel yours

🎨

Segment colors

Each entry is automatically assigned a distinct color from the wheel's palette, making it easy to read at a glance even from across a room.

⏱️

Spin duration

Choose fast, normal, or slow spin speed to match the pacing of your event — quick for a rapid-fire livestream giveaway, slower for a dramatic on-stage reveal.

🔊

Sound and result display

Toggle a spin chime on or off, and every result appears both inline and in a full winner announcement modal with the entry's odds shown.

No install needed

Runs entirely in your browser

The Prize Wheel is a browser-based tool — there's nothing to download and no signup to create an account. Use the fullscreen button to present the wheel on a projector or share your screen during a livestream, Zoom call, or Teams meeting. Because everything runs client-side, the wheel loads instantly and your entry list is never uploaded anywhere.

Trust

Running a transparent draw

For giveaways where trust matters, spin the wheel live on-screen rather than announcing a result prepared in advance — a visible spin that slows down and lands on a name is far more convincing than a name simply appearing. Publish your participant list and any rules ahead of time, note the winner and timestamp afterward, and disclose any weighted odds so entrants understand exactly how their chances were calculated.
